CANCELLED - 11:00am: Speaker Dwayne Purvis on 'Making Cash Flow' - Decisions pivot on cash flow analysis, and cash flow builds on all of the major drivers in the business. Reliable cash flow analysis requires a broad understanding of the issues and methods for inputs ranging from geology to gas differentials, from decline curves to discount rates. Mr. Purvis will survey methods, notable issues and misunderstood assumptions for creating and interpreting cash flows.  

About Dwayne Purvis, P.E

Dwayne Purvis, P.E. has spent two and a half decades in reservoir engineering and executive leadership as a consultant and operator. He has led or participated in hundreds of field studies and reserve analyses over dozens of basins in the United States and abroad, and he has participated in the sale or acquisition of projects valued from tens of thousands to billions of dollars. 

Before starting his own consulting practice in 2015, he served Jetta Operating Company as Reservoir Engineering Manager and Reserves Manager. Prior roles include founder and Executive Vice President of consulting firm The Strickland Group and partner at Cawley, Gillespie & Associates, and he currently serves as an adjunct professor at Texas Christian University.

Mr. Purvis has published on issues of shale reservoirs, decline curve analysis, reserves, and risk analysis. He is a registered professional engineer in the state of Texas, member of SPEE, AAPG, SEG and a 25-year member of SPE. 

About Tom Ramos: 

Tom Ramos is a Managing Director with BDO’s Valuation & Business Analytics practice in the firm’s Houston office. He has nearly15 years of professional experience performing business valuations for both financial reporting and tax planning purposes inaccordance with United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). His valuation experience includes valuation analyses for purchase price accounting, goodwill impairment tests, international tax restructuring valuations, fresh start valuations, common and preferred stock valuations, and intellectual property asset valuations.

Tom has significant experience in all sectors of the oil and gas industry, valuing upstream oil and gas reserves and intangible assets within the midstream and downstream sectors and for oilfield service companies.
